As a college student, I really encourage all the incoming freshmen (名詞:大學新生) to take a part in the many extra-curriculum (名詞:課外活動) that the school has to offer. Always take initiative (名詞:主動地,自主地) and make sure that you do not limit yourself to only certain things.
One thing that I did in college that I really enjoyed was checking out Christian fellowships. As a Christian, one who grew up in the church my whole life, I knew that it was important to find a fellowship where I can get plugged into (動詞:插上,溶入). Before college, I would hear things like, “When you become a college student, that is when your faith is really challenged (動詞:挑戰). You either make it or break it.” Believing that my purpose of life was to glorify God, I searched around for fellowships. After going to around 8 of them, I finally decided on one.
This fellowship is the one where I really found God and realized why I believed in God. I learned the importance of reading the Bible. This might be shocking to some, because I grew up in a Christian household and I considered myself a Christian. However, I never enjoyed reading the Bible until college. Through this fellowship, I realized that we must base our faith off God’s word. We should not blindly believe in something, but we really need to see it through God’s word.
College is a time for everyone to learn more about themselves and to make new friends as well. Do not limit yourself to being friends with only a certain group of people or just being comfortable with a couple of friends and staying with them throughout all four years. I encourage you to meet more people and take advantage of the college campus. College is the time where everyone is open to making friends. Everyone is friendly for the most part. When you step out into the real world, people are not as open. They all have their own things to do.
Another important thing is time management. Never push things off to the last minute. When you push your assignments off, everything will only add up and you will end up feeling even more alarmed Yes, it may be tempting (名詞:誘人的,吸引人的) to go hang out with your friend because it is so much more entertaining than writing a ten page paper, but do not do something you will regret in the future. Learn how to balance everything well and do everything well as well.
College is a time for everyone to grow and learn more about themselves. I encourage you to work hard and to have fun while doing so.
